Abstract

945,315. Forcing liquids by gaseous pressure; compressors. H. D. HUDSON MANUFACTURING CO. Dec. 19, 1960 [Aug. 18, 1960], No. 43591/60. Headings FIN and F1R. In a compression sprayer comprising a tank A and a hand-operated air-pump, the pump barrel 16 is removably secured and sealed in a funnel-shaped filler neck 17 of the tank by rotation the barrel 16 to bring longitudinally inclined internal flanges 21, 22, Fig. 2, on the filler neck into locking engagement with longitudinally inclined external flanges 23, 24 on a cup-shaped member 25 secured to the top of the barrel, a sealing gasket 19 being compressed between a flange on the pump barrel and a seat in the filler neck. Member 25 and barrel 16 are rotated by depressing and rotating a pump handle 34 so that lugs 32 on the handle pass through slots 31, Fig. 4 and engage the ends of slots 29 in the base 28 of member 25, the handle being released when the barrel is secured. Rotation of the barrel in the opposite direction first releases the seal to enable the escape of residual pressure before the barrel is free to be withdrawn. Specification 837,629 is referred to.
