Abstract

945,217. Lined cartons. VAPOR A.B. May 11, 1962 [May 13, 1961], No. 18266/62. Headings B8C and B8P. A carton 1 has side walls 3 folded to form a tube with end closing flaps 4 and comprises a liner 2 sealed at 5 and 7 perpendicular to the axis of the tube. The liner is coated on the inside with a heat-sealable material, one end being closed prior to the introduction of solid or liquid contents and then the other end sealed and the flaps 4 closed, the influx of material serving to erect the carton. Alternatively both ends of the liner may be sealed and liquid or gaseous contents introduced by injecting a delivery nozzle and sealing the hole after filling, the collapsed state of the liner removing the necessity of an air outlet during filling. Various arrangements of liner and carton shapes may be used including bellows folds (not shown) and liners fixed to a pair of opposite corners of the carton. When bellows folds are used the ears produced and known in the art may be used in conjunction with flaps 4 to produce pouring spouts.
