Abstract

1389533 Liquid-packaging containers ALTSTADTER VERPACKUNGS - VERTRIEBSGmbH 2 March 1973 [2 March 1972] 10176/73 Headings B8P and B8D A liquid-packaging container comprises an open-ended tubular body of rectangular crosssection formed from folding and longitudinally seaming one or more blanks of material, such as cardboard, coated on both sides with a thermo plastics, e.g. polyethylene, an injection-moulded thermoplastics cover 8 formed with an integral spout 10 and sealed to the edges of the body side walls at one end thereof, and an injectionmoulded thermoplastics bottom member 7 secured along one edge 9 only of the body side wall edges at the other end so as to leave that end open. After filling the inverted container through the open bottom end, the bottom member is hinged down and sealed to the remaining side wall edges. The cover and bottom member may be moulded into the body ends or welded thereto immediately after injectionmoulding. The body may be formed with a single lap seam, a single butt seam, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), or two diagonally opposed butt seams Fig. 5 (not shown). The spout comprises a first tubular portion 12, Fig. 4 (not shown), which is provided at one end with a sealed closure 13 and tab 14 and is telescopically located in a second tubular portion 11 so that the spout does not project axially of the tube body. On pulling the tab, the portions 11 and 12 are pulled outwardly for their telescoped position and the closure opened.
