945,065. Rotary filters. SIMONACCO Ltd. Jan. 31, 1962 March 21, 1961], No. 10189/61. Heading B1D. A filter sack for a rotatable disc or drum filter comprises at least one sheet 15 of liquidpervious woven filtering material, e.g. nylon, adapted to cover a grooved and perforated filtering surface of a sector 11 of the disc, or of the drum, and a border comprising strips 16, 17, 18 of substantially-liquid-impervious material, e.g. a reinforced polymer or reinforced rubber, secured to the edges of the sheet 15, the outer edge of the border strip 17 at the outer peripheral edge of the disc sector, or each of the edges of the drum, being fluid-tightly secured to an impervious portion, e.g. a timber nailing strip 21, of the disc sector or drum. Adjacent borders 16 of the opposite faces of the sector are secured at 19 by stitching or polymer cement, except where they are turned to overlie borders 17 on strip 21. Border 18 is laced to borders 16, which are also secured to an impervious "sock" through which protrudes a spigot 14 for attachment to a rotatable hollow spindle. Liquid-impervious sealing strips 24 are used to secure sheet 15 to its borders. Sewn edges may be turned to the inside of the sack, and stitching holes may be sealed with wax, varnish, polymer resin, or impervious strips. Specifications 883,840 and 894,318 are referred to.
