Abstract

1,023,290. Shirt collars. R. H. & S. ROGERS Ltd. Feb. 2, 1965 [Nov. 19, 1963], No. 45701/63. Heading A3V. The invention comprises both a method of making a shirt collar in which the down turned lower edge is free from visible stitching and the collar made by this method. The method comprises stitching together the short side edges of the facing and backing material 3, 17 so that the facing layer extends into and overlaps the backing layer. Stitching together at 23 and 24 the facing and backing materials 3 and a lining 4. Edge turning and stitching at 25 the lining 4. Stitching the facing layer 3 to the lining 4 at 28. The backing material 17 is stitched to the lining at 27 at the fold line. Stiffening material comprising pieces 5 are fused to the lining. Stiffeners comprising plastics stiffeners 9 which pass through slits 8 in corner pieces 7 are fused to the lining.
