Abstract

944,957. Electromagnetic interrupters. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 20, 1961 [Oct. 17, 1960], No. 35502/60. Heading H2B. The insulating former 9, 10, 11, 12, preferably made of nylon, of a tuned reed relay has an operating coil 13 wound on its centre section 10 and receives in its end 11 a mount 1 carrying a magnetic reed 4 which extends through the centre section 10 and co-operates with a contact 15 secured in the other end 9 of the former. Two permanent magnets 20, 21 are accommodated in slots formed in the part 12 of the former. The reed is made of grainorientated silicon iron or " Mumetal " (Registered Trade Mark), and the fixed contact is a platinum tipped grub screw. Two reeds tuned to different frequencies may be provided. The entire structure is enclosed in a " Perspex " (Registered Trade Mark) casing.
