Abstract
944,272. Transformers. WAYNE KERR LABORATORIES Ltd. May 10, 1960 [May 12, 1959], No. 16157/59. Heading H1T. [Also in Division G1] A helical or spiral inductive device 30 (Fig. 2) having a movable contact 34 has turns connected to corresponding turns of a low leakage auxiliary transformer 37 to reduce flux leakage between the former turns. A conductive split cylinder 61 (Fig. 10) may be arranged outside the turns 60 of the inductive device and twin spring tapping brushes 62 may be mounted slidably on a conducting plate 64. If the device is wound spirally a flat radially divided conductive annular plate with overlapping ends separated by insulation may be placed adjacent to it. The turns 40 (Fig. 7) of the inductive device may be separated by nylon monofilament insulation 41 and an inner split conductive cylinder 42 may be provided. The device may have a core of magnetic dust or ferrite. The device may be formed from a conductor which is ribbed, grooved or formed in two parts to provide a guide track for the moving contacts. An impedance measuring system incorporating the device is described (see Division G1). Specification 944,273 is referred to.
