[Also in Division B8] In a harvesting machine of the kind comprising a conduit through which the crop is discharged on to a separate collecting vehicle, means are provided for closing the discharge end of the conduit and directing the crop through an auxiliary discharge aperture in the rear wall thereof. As shown in Fig. 1, the discharge conduit of a tractordrawn harvester 1 is provided with a rotatable portion 13, an adjustable flap 17 and an aperture 20 in the portion 19 of its rear wall said aperture being normally closed by a hinged plate 24. Means are provided, however, for locking the plate in the position shown in Fig. 1, thereby closing the normal discharge route of the crop and re-directing it through the aperture 20. The plate 24 may be of variable length and securable at different points on the front wall of the conduit so as to alter the angle at which the crop is discharged through the opening 20, and it may comprise separate members hinged together to form a curved surface. A detachable extension 42 is mounted on the exterior of the conduit to assist in spreading the crop. In an alternative arrangement, the cover 24 and extension 42 are formed as an integral member, to be inserted into the conduit after removal of the rear wall 19, the said integral member being formed with depending flanges for guiding the discharged crop. In yet another modification, the plate 24 is retained and an auxiliary guide conduit is detachably mounted on the discharge conduit in place of the extension 42, thereby laying the harvested crop in swaths.
