Abstract

941,590. Artificial respiration training. MAX CHESHIRE Ltd. July 4, 1961 [Jan. 27, 1961], No. 24167/61. Heading AST. A device for use in teaching mouth-to-mouth resuscitation comprises a hollow mask 1, representing the lower part of the face, which is worn by a person representing the patient. This has apertures corresponding to the nostrils and mouth so that air blown therethrough is passed through a flexible tube 8 to an inflatable sac 9, representing the lungs. The latter may be attached to the patient by straps 11 or clips and the mask may have a head band 5. The connection between the mask and the tube 8 may incorporate a valve of a type which closes if the head is not tilted back correctly.
