Abstract

940,550. Rotary drum concrete mixers; drum mills. EDWARD BENTON & CO. Ltd. June 22, 1962 [Aug. 31, 1961], No. 31347/61. Headings B1C and B2A. An attachment for a mixer of the kind comprising a drum rotatable about a vertical axis and mixing blades depending into the drum, includes a support member 1 arranged to overhang the drum and a crushing block 4 depending therefrom, the block being tapered in horizontal section and having a curved face 7 to lie adjacent the wall of the drum. The block is carried by the arrangement of rods and blocks 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 so that it has almost universal adjustment; in operation it is set with the narrow vertical edge leading, and further from the drum wall than the broad trailing edge 5, forming a crushing space between the block and the drum, and is freely pivotable about the axis of the spindle 14 so far as permitted by the reaction of the mixture mass. A rib 18 directs material into the crushing space. The support member 1 also carries a scraper blade 10 pivotable at 20 and having a foot 22 which is acted upon by the mix to swing the blade into contact with the drum.
