A truck for a tunnel kiln comprises a sheet-metal casing 4 mounted on a chassis 1 and filled with broken fire brick, the side walls of the casing being covered by refractory brick 20 and at least one layer of bricks covering the broken firebrick. The top of the casing 4 is covered with plates or wire mesh 15 on which the top bricks rest. The side cladding bricks 20 may be held in place by flanges on the supporting strips 18, 19, and the outer bricks of the layer immediately above the casing may have grooves 21 engaging flanges on the side and end walls of the casing. The end walls of the casing have a coating of asbestos or heat-resistant paint.
