Abstract

939,949. Filters. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 18, 1961, No. 18167/61. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] Liquid is drawn into a cylindrical casing 1 up a pipe 7 having an open upper end 10 on to which screws a tube 16 whose lower end clamps the periphery of a hole in a filter bag 4. The bag is accommodated in a perforate basket 3 which has at its centre an upstanding tube 18. The liquid discharges into an annular recess 6 in the lid 2 and emerges therefrom turbulently to inhibit accumulation of residue on the upper part of the bag. In Fig. 2, the inlet pipe extends downwards through the lid 2 and ends in nozzles 22. Alternatively the nozzles may be tangential to a circle concentric with the casing axis.
