Abstract

939,628. Spinning yarns. BRACKER A.G. July 19, 1961 [July 19, 1960], No. 26128/61. Class 120 (3). Manually-operated apparatus for separating a single traveller from a stack, applying it to the traveller ring of a spinning or like machine and simultaneously drawing the thread therethrough, comprises a tongue which thrusts the traveller on to the ring and a handle connected to a relatively displaceable fork member which carries a stop for initially entrapping the thread and thread catcher mechanism operated by a trigger member also displaceable relative to the handle. In the operation of the tool shown in Figs. 1, 2, 6 and 7, the thread 37 is caught in an aligning guide 38 and subsequently a lever 34 is pivoted by actuation of a trigger 35, Fig. 1, which retracts a slide block 32 coacting therewith, or a finger-plate 36, Fig. 7, and through a pin 39 causes a lever 29 to pivot about its support 28 so that a hook 30 seizes thread 37 and pulls it beyond the end 8b of a slide bar 8 and places it in a recess 40. The tool is then moved by a handle 1 towards the ring 12 so that a fork member 4 comes to rest firmly against the ring by means of a recess 41, and during this movement the foremost traveller 42 of a spring-loaded, automatically fed stack on the bar 8 is positioned with its legs over the flange of the ring and embracing the thread 37. The handle is further advanced against pressure of a spring 5 to cause a swivelling, spring-loaded tongue 22 to engage the traveller through a stop face 23 and separate it from the stack so that it may be clipped on to the ring, by means of the stop face, with thread 37 drawn therethrough. The tool is removed from the ring 12 and the trigger released to allow the thread to assume its normal path. In the operation of another embodiment, Figs. 8 and 10, the thread 37 is caught in the guide 38 and trigger 35 is actuated to move a spring-biased slide block 32 so that a fixed pin 42 secured to a pawl lever 43 drops into a recess 47 and locks block 32 with member 4 and also to cause hook 30 to pull the thread 37 beyond the end of bar 8. The tool is moved towards the ring 12 so that tongue 22 operates as before, although the block 32 and with it the lever 29 remains in locked position. When the traveller is in position on the ring, the tool is lifted therefrom, the thread slipping out of the guide 38 and hook 30, and the lever 43 (projecting into the trigger guard 47) is pushed back to release the block 32 and restore the mechanism to the starting position.
