939,174. Converting. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. April 13, 1962 [May 1, 1961], No. 15628/61. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXX] A rectifier feed circuit for supplying direct current to a load to which an alternating current is also supplied comprises a supply transformer T, a bi-phase rectifying circuit formed by Zener diodes D1, D2 and an output circuit, including choke L, which connects the D.C. voltage developed across resistor R to a load connected across points 2 and 3. The A.C. voltage supplied to points 2, 3 from a source (not shown) also acts in the rectifying circuit and tends to increase its D.C. output. This effect is reduced by the filtering action of choke L and resistor R and also, during each half cycle, by the reverse current action, of one Zener diode when the combined A.C. voltages applied to the other exceed a predetermined level.
