Abstract

Antistatic vinyl resin compositions comprise as destaticizing agent at least 3% by weight of the resin of a di-alkyl aspartate or di-alkyl glutamate wherein the alkyl groups contain 4 to 12 carbon atoms. Specified resins are polyvinyl chloride and copolymers of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate and vinylidene chloride. Specified esters are dibutyl, dihexyl, dioctyl, di(2-ethylhexyl), didecyl, and dilauryl aspartate and glutamate. The compositions may also comprise conventional plasticisers, stabilizers, fillers and pigments, and examples describe compositions comprising (1) polyvinyl-chloride, dibutyl glutamate, dioctyl phthalate, barium stearate and cadmium stearate, and (2) polyvinyl chloride, di(2-ethylhexyl) aspartate, barium stearate and cadmium stearate.
