Abstract

939,033. Heating steam boilers by steam and hot liquids. A HUET. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 2, 1959], No. 92/60. Class 123 (2). A steam generator heated by steam, a steam-water mixture or by hot water under pressure consists of a drum a provided with inlets b for the water to be evaporated and with steam outlets c each containing a separator d, the drum housing a number of tubulous heatexchange units through which the heating medium flows. The heat-exchange units each consist of upper and lower sub-headers g, n<SP>1</SP> respectively arranged spokewise around an inlet tube f and an outlet tube o which communicate with main distributing and collecting headers e, p respectively. Corresponding sub-headers in each unit are connected by a number of helical tubes l, m, n which together form three concentric helices i, j, k as shown in Fig. 2. The heat-exchange units are arranged in staggered formation within the drum. The tubes l, m, n may be of lenticular section as in Fig. 2, or may have longitudinal ribs which impart local spinning movements to the water in the drum. Due to these movements steam tends to separate in the centre of each helix and its flow towards the outlets c is facilitated.
