Abstract

938,150. Vices. W. ZALEWSKI. Jan. 16, 1961 [Oct. 16, 1959], No. 35118/59. Addition to 838,619. Class 61. An improvement in or modification of the vice of the parent Specification where the handoperable interacting cam and followar means for the movement of the movable jaw,-is formed by a slot in a cup member at the end of the screw barrel co-operating with a radial pin follower of the thrust rod, the slot is shaped for at least two stages of retraction of the thrust rod, the first in which the movable jaw of the vice, which is adapted to have secured thereto the movable part of a mould is unclamped and moved away from the fixed jaw of the vice which is adapted to have secured thereto the fixed half of the mould, and the remaining one or more in which, by the continued movement or movements of the movable jaw and movable part of the mould in relation to suitably disposed fixed parts, the mould is freed, that is, ejected, from the movable part of the mould. One end of the slot adjacent the screw barrel 9 which is adapted to hold the vice in the clamped position proceeds axially and slightly circumferentially; thereafter the slot 13 proceeds axially and with a more pronounced circumferential curvature to its other extremity 14. An open ended curved slot 15 is provided for the passage of the radial operating arm 16 by which the thrust rod 17 is moved through the first stage. Parallel, upstanding plates 20 are mounted at the base of the runway of the movable jaw 19. The two rear edges of the plates form abutment surfaces to co-operate with a plate 22, Fig. 6, located between two mould parts 23, 24 secured respectively to the movable jaw 19 and fixed jaw 36 and projecting on its vertical edges therefrom, against which plate the rim 25 of a cup.like part 26 that has been moulded makes contact. The plate 22 has an aperture therethrough for the passage of a core 27 carried by the movable part 23 of the mould and projecting when the mould parts are clamped together into a projecting recess 39 in the other part of the mould. In a modification a bridge plate 28, Fig. 7, having cut-away portions 29 which pass over the thrust rod 17 is carried between two vertical slots 21 in the plates 20. In another modification, slight relative rocking movement of the jaw 19 and the inner end of the thrust rod is provided by arranging a ring of resilient material between the external surface of a retaining plate and an annular housing for the ring.
