Abstract
Dialkoxy aluminium hydrides of formula Al(OR2)H, in which R is an alkyl group, e.g. C5H11, C8H17, C16H33, are prepared by reacting Al(OR)3 with R2AlH, (Alk)AlH4 or AlH3, in which Alk is an alkali metal or by reacting B(OR)3 with R2AlH. The dialkyl-aluminium hydride may have alkyl groups containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and the trialkyl borate may have alkyl groups containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms. The dialkylaluminium hydride and trialkyl borate are preferably used in stoichiometric quantities. The reaction temperature may be between 25 DEG and 150 DEG C.
