Abstract
Boron trialkyls are prepared by reacting at about 50-250 DEG C. an alkyl aluminium halide containing up to 3 carbon atoms in each alkyl group with an anhydrous boron compound selected from boron trioxide, alkali metal borates and alkaline earth metal borates, said boron compound having been dehydrated at a temperature between 150 and 250 DEG C., and distilling off the formed boron trialkyl. The alkyl aluminium halide may be used as its complex with an alkali metal halide. An inert suspending agent may be used. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 838,616.
