Abstract

Fungicidal manganese-containing products are prepared by reacting manganese oxides with a dithiocarbamate formed by reaction between carbon disulphide and an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic mono- or diamine, other than ethylene diamine, having at least one primary or secondary amino group in the presence of ammonia and/or an excess of the amine. At least 0.5 gm atom of manganese is reacted with each equivalent of the dithiocarbamate, and amines mentioned are dimethylamine, methylamine, ethylamine, diethylamine, propylamine, isopropylamine, butylamine, hexylamine, dodecylamine, cyclohexylamine, methylcyclohexylamine, piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine, propylene, butylene, or hexamethylene diamine or substitution derivatives thereof. Mixtures of amines which may include ethylene diamine, may also be used. Mixtures of the product with thiuram disulphides are produced if the amount of monoamine in a mixture with diamine is in excess. Examples describe the reaction of manganese dioxide with the products of the reaction of dimethylamine, ethylamine, and dimethylamine and ethylene diamine, with carbon disulphide. The compounds may be used with a carrier or diluent in fungicidal compositions.ALSO:Fungicidal compositions comprise the manganese containing products prepared by reacting manganese oxides with a dithiocarbamate formed by reaction between carbon disulphide and an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or heterocyclic mono- or diamine other than ethylene diamine having at least one primary or secondary amino group in the presence of ammonia and/or excess of amine. Amines mentioned are dimethylamine, methylamine, ethylamine, diethylamine, propylamine, isopropylamine, butylamine, hexylamine, dodecylamine, cyclohexylamine, methylcyclohexylamine, piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine, propylene, butylene, or hexamethylene diamine or substitution derivatives thereof. Mixtures of amines which may include ethylene diamine may also be used. The compounds are used with a carrier or diluent in the form of solutions, suspensions, emulsions, wettable powders or dusts.
