937,835. Blanks transferring; stamping. S.A. DES USINES CHAUSSON. July 26, 1960, No. 25977/60. Classes 83 (3) and 83 (4). Apparatus for continuously transferring workpieces from a machine 1, Fig. 1, to a machine 2 includes a pivoted pincers device which automatically grips all the workpieces in the space between the machines, moves them along a distance equal to the forward stroke of a reciprocating table, releases them while the table returns and then continues so that there is a continuous succession of workpieces passing between the machines. The invention applies more particularly to transfers between machines used in the manufacture of cooling radiators to effect the transfer between two stamping points of the water boxes of these radiators. The apparatus is mounted on a movable carriage 3 and comprises a framework 6, 12, Fig. 4, which is provided with guide rails 14 for the reciprocating table 19 and brackets 15 to support a drive housing 16. A motor 7 drives a vertical spindle in the housing 16 and a clutch 10 transmits motion to a crank 32. The end of the latter is connected by a pin 34 to the middle of a connecting-rod 35 one end of which engages a pin 36 coaxial with the drive-shaft and rotatable in a bearing in the table 19. The other end of the connecting-rod carries a roller 39 which, during part of the rotative cycle of the crank, engages transverse slots 17, 18, in a fixed part of the frame and thus becomes a fulcrum to give reciprocating movement to the carriage 19. Arms 43, 44, pivoted to the frame, are interconnected by rods and cranks and moved in timed relation with the table by a cylinder and piston device so that the arms are moved inwardly and outwardly to grip and release the workpieces. Beams 45, 46, secured to the ends of the pivoted arms carry work-gripping members 47, Fig. 1, spaced along the beams at intervals equal to the stroke of the carriage. Stationary rails or tubes 53, 54, support the workpieces when released by the pincer members 47. When a workpiece reaches the final stroke position, adjacent machine 2, fingers 56 on the ends of the beams 45, 46, push it into the working position of the machine.
