Abstract

937,570. Valves; hydraulic accumulators. J. MERCIER. Nov. 23, 1961, No. 41957/61. Classes 69 (2) and 135. A valve 41<SP>1</SP> carried by the elastic pressurized bladder 19<SP>1</SP> of an hydraulic accumulator 11 seats on the conical outlet 38<SP>1</SP> when the bladder is charged with gas and carries a helical spring 50<SP>1</SP> by the curved end stem portion 51<SP>1</SP> whereby, on fluid flowing into the accumulator, the valve opens an intermediate amount before the end 60 of the spring contacts an outlet shoulder 37<SP>1</SP> to reduce shock and avoid damage to the bladder or valve as the valve moves to fully open position, the stem 51<SP>1</SP> first flexing and then the coils 50<SP>1</SP> being compressed. A filling 34 forms a smooth seat for a sealing by the adjacent bladder or a flexible disc 62. The spring acts as a valve guide, may be a single convolution when the bladder contains a close coiled tension spring, or may rest on an outlet shoulder to hold the valve open normally, the valve not being connected to the bladder.
