Abstract

936,989. Vehicle bodies luggage carriers. DAIMLER-BENZ A. G. Aug. 14, 1962 [Aug. 16, 1961], No. 31181/62. Classes 103(2) and 108(1). A vehicle roof 1 has a longitudinal rib 2, or an inwardly or outwardly directed step which supports longitudinal bearers 3 on which luggage holders 4 or racks are mounted. The bearers 3 may be integral with the roof and are provided with recesses 11 for engagement with retaining latches such as the rotatable locking lever 8. The bearers 4 may be rectangular, circular or channel shape in cross-section and are provided at their ends with hooks or slots for straps &c. When the bearers 4 are circular section conical-ended spring-pressed bolts sliding in the ends of the tubes engage conical recesses in the bearers 3.
