Abstract

826,439. Wagon and like covers; luggage racks for vehicles. HANSEN, L. H. Feb. 13, 1958, No. 4821/58. Class 103(2) A motor car tarpaulin or cover 1, Fig. 1, of substantially rectangular shape, is permanently secured to a rigid non-foldable frame 2, 2<SP>1</SP> having depending members 3 securable by straps and hooks 6 to the sides of the vehicle top 10, whereby the cover 1 is spaced from the vehicle body and has a minimum surface contact therewith. The ends of the cover enclose rods 5, 5<SP>1</SP> provided with hooks 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, to engage the vehicle bumpers. Cross rods 2<SP>1</SP> of the frame are secured in loops 9 on the cover. The cover may be folded and stowed on the frame, as shown at 8 in Fig. 3. If desired the frame may constitute the roof luggage carrier of the vehicle.
