Abstract

<FORM:0935932/IV(a)/1> In making a spinneret, for spinning and extruding synthetic textiles, having a pierced stone 5 welded in a metal bezel 4, a cylindrical hole 2 is pierced in a metal plate 1, a ball or punch having a spherical or conical head of greater diameter than the hole is forced into the hole to widen partially the diameter thereof and to form an inclined annular shoulder 3 and the metal bezel in which the stone is welded is driven into the widened hole. The plate 1 may be of stainless steel and the shoulder 3 therein may be conical or concave, the bezel 4 may be of stainless steel, titanium or zirconium and has a reduced diameter part in which the stone 5 of ruby, ceramic or diamond is welded. The bezel is driven into the widened part of the hole so that a shoulder 7 on the bezel engages the shoulder 3 in the hole and a clearance 6 exists between the reduced part of the bezel and the unwidened part of the hole.
