935,892. Jaw-crushers. E. KUHME, and K. W. BRIEDEN, [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK KARL BRIEDEN & CO.]. May 16, 1962 [June 12, 1961], No. 18895/62. Class 59. A jaw crusher for use in mines comprises two rockers 11, 12 which are mounted on individual shafts 9, 10 for oscillation by an eccentric shaft 18, are so arranged that at the midposition of oscillation their centre of gravities lie on a line substantially vertical beneath the axes of the shafts 9, 10 and are maintained in constant thrust relation with bearing units 22, 23 carried by the shaft 18 by the action of resilient tensioning means 13. One rocker only may co-operate with a stationary jaw or both rockers may co-operate with stationary jaws. The shaft 18 is mounted in a frame 1 which is resiliently supported by damping members 36 on a pair of skids 2. The shaft 18 carries at one end a flywheel driving pulley 31 which is driven by an air or electric motor 33 and at the other end a flywheel, both the pulley and flywheel being loosely mounted on the shaft by means of slipping clutches; the slipping clutch for the pulley may be preset so that, if the jaws become jammed, retardation of the flywheels causes the motor to stop. The tensioning means 13, which is adjustable, urges the rockers against rollers 24, 25 disposed in recesses in the bearing units 22, 23; the crushing throat may be varied by the interposition of bearing bars 26, 27 of differing thickness. The masses of the moving parts are balanced on opposite sides of the drive-shaft which has its eccentric portions offset 180 degrees to effect opposed movement. Material crushed between the jaws can be carried away by a conveyer disposed in the space between the skids.
