Abstract

935,100. Balancing ; platform hoists. CRONE & TAYLOR (ENGINEERING) Ltd. March 20, 1961 [July 16, 1960], No. 24859/60. Classes 78 (2) and 78 (3). A load supporting platform 13, provided with wooden slats bearing on four vertical guides 11, is supported by four ropes each passing from an anchorage on a corner of the platform, over a sheave 38 to a drum on a shaft 17 or 18 and counterweights 42, 43 are supported by ropes passing from anchorages adjacent the tops of the guides 11, over sheaves on the counterweights to further drums on the shafts 17, 18. The shafts 17, 18 are connected by gears 27, 28 to a shaft 29 which drives, through sprockets 30, 31 and a chain 32, a shaft 33 provided with a brake device 37 and a hand wheel 36. The hand wheel may be used to assist the counterweights in raising the platform and to steady and control the movement of the platform, and the brake device may be released by means of a pedal, Fig. 5 (not shown). In a modification, Figs. 4-7 (not shown), the shafts 17, 18, 29 are replaced by a single shaft provided with four drums to which ropes from the platform and a single counterweight are secured. The counterweights may be replaced by a loadsupporting platform.
