Abstract
934,196. Loose-leaf binders. REGENT S.A. Nov. 8, 1960 [Dec. 5, 1959], No. 38366/60. Class 146 (1). A loose-leaf binder including a spine formed by two back portions a, b hinged together, is provided with a locking device comprising a substantially quadrilateral-shaped member v secured to the back portion a and having a movable arm 3 adapted to engage a hookshaped member c secured to the back portion b. The arm 3 engages a notch 10 in the hook to lock the binder in the closed position, or is slid along the rim 11 of the hook to allow the filed sheets to be spread apart but not removed from the binder, the curved filing posts remaining overlapped. The filing posts comprise opposed pairs of pins k, m and l, n, each pair of pins engaging the same perforations in the filed sheets but not touching. The free end of the side 5 of the member v has a protruding lug which is passed through a slot in the arm 3 and twisted to prevent it coming out of the slot, whereby the arm is guided during movement. The member v is arranged at an angle or parallel to the hinge of the spine and the hook may have a series of notches along its rim 11. Alternatively, the member v is formed from wire bent to form a quadrilateral, the movement of the arm 3 being limited by passing it through a loop formed at the free end of the side 5, Fig. 9 (not shown).
