[Also in Group XXIX] The rotary distributing valve of a dry gas meter (see Group XXIX) is sealed to the fixed outlet pipe 1a of the meter by a lip 12 of flexible material such as rubber or plastic, secured to the neck of the rotary valve 11, as in Fig. 6. Alternatively, the sealing means may be a ring of liquid 12a such as mercury, contained between two felt washers 12b arranged on a shoulder in the neck opening as in Fig. 7 or flexible laminations 12c alternating with spacer elements 12d as in Fig. 8.
