Abstract
933,803. Making transformer cores; winding and reeling. M. SCIAKY. Aug. 18, 1961 [Nov. 10, 1960], No. 29933/61. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). In a method of manufacturing magnetic coils, magnetic sheet metal or wire 5 is attached to and wound on to a tube 7 placed about one of the limbs 4 of a transformer winding 1 by rotating the tube. As seen in Fig. 2, two wheels 8, 9 having gear teeth are placed on the tube 7, this assembly having been divided diametrically and assembled about the limbs 4. The tube 7 is then rotated by means of the gear teeth on the discs 9 meshing with a number of driven gear-wheels 18. The second magnetic circuit 6 is formed in the same way. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4, the tube 7 (Fig. 2) is rotated by rubber drive rollers 20 bearing on the metal strip being wound. Gripping pressure is provided by means of pneumatic cylinder 24, 25 acting on the linkage 21. The magnetic cores may be formed from strip which is narrower than the final core or wire, in which case traversing means is provided for winding the strip or wire in helical form to fill the width of-the tube 7.
