Abstract

1529515 Winding toroidal cores INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 15 April 1976 [16 April 1975] 15670/76 Heading B8G To wind a toroidal core, wire is wound in turns on to a rotated ring-shaped core from a magazine, and the wire is guided on to the core by a guide which is moved towards and away from the core before and after, respectively, the start of winding of each turn so that an end of the guide closest to the core clears the topmost layer of turns as the core rotates. As shown, Fig. 4, wire magazine 1 rotates to wind wire 2 on ring-shaped core 5 which is rotated step-bystep so that the wire lies in grooves 3, Fig. 5. With each step-by-step rotation, wire guiding plates 6 on either side of the magazine are pivoted upwards about axle 14 and against the bias of spring 11 to lift the plates from webs 7 and clear the wound wire. The plates are pivoted via rods 17 by spring system 18. In prior constructions (Figs. 1 to 3, not shown), the plates are resiliently and rotatably mounted so as to slide over the wound wire.
