[Also in Group XXXV] Angular beading.-The method of manufacturing a toroidal magnetic core having adjusted permeability comprises the steps of winding a ribbon of magnetic material into a spiral having insulation between successive turns, cutting a radial slot in the core, inserting a filler of magnetic material into the slot, adjusting the width of the residual air gaps between the filler and the sides of the slots by applying inwardly directed radial pressure to the periphery of the core and holding the airgaps in the adjusted position. The wound core 1 and the filler 2 are placed in a trough 3 and put in a jig 4, pressure being applied by the screws 5. After the air-gaps have been adjusted the free space in the trough is filled with a hard setting material and, after setting, the screws are withdrawn. The trough may be of insulating or conducting material.
