Abstract

932,555. Transistor switching circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 20, 1959 [Aug. 22, 1958], No. 26987/58. Class 40 (6). A transistor switching circuit comprises a transistor 1 which is switched to the " ON " state by an input pulse at terminal 13, and which is provided with a base biasing network comprising the series combination of a first resistor 8, a diode 9 and a second resistor 10, the arrangement being such that input pulses applied to the junction of diode 9 and resistor 10 cut-off the diode, allowing the transistor to conduct. The diode thus isolates the transistor from the input circuit during the application of an input pulse. A second diode 15 may be included in the circuit to prevent the junction of the resistor 10 and diode 9 rising above earth. A gating circuit may be formed by using the transistor and its load 5 as the common emitter impedance of a pair of transistors, to the base of one of which signals to be gated are applied. The switch may also be included in the emitter circuit of one transistor of a multivibrator to switch it on and off.
