Abstract

Washproof antistatic properties are imparted to synthetic fibres, e.g. polyamide, polyacrylonitrile and polyester fabrics, by impregnating them with an aqueous preparation containing, per 1,000 parts by weight of water, (a) 3-25 parts by weight of a water-soluble diglycidyl ether of a polyethylene glycol, having an average molecular weight of 300-1,500, which contains 0,75-4,5 epoxide equivalents per Kg, and (b) 0,4-15 parts by weight of a primary, secondary or tertiary mono- or polyamine which is soluble in water to the extent of at least 1,5% by weight, e.g. triethylene tetramine, squeezing them to such an extent that 0,5-2% by weight of solids, calculated on the weight of the dry fibres, are deposited, drying the fibres and keeping them at temperatures ranging from 15 DEG -25 DEG C to effect hardening.
