Abstract

1,233,109. Paper. NESTE OY. 14 Nov., 1968 [17 Nov., 1967], No. 53967/68. Heading D2B. A web is produced from cellulosic fibres whichare chemically cross-linked and at no stage subjected to beating to increase "paper' properties to any notable degree, to which is added an elastic bonding agent. The fibres may be chemical or semi-chemical, or pulps with high α-cellulose content. They may be cross-linked by treatment with a polyfunctional compound e.g. formaldehyde, a polyhalide, a polyepoxide, a polyaldehyde, a halohydrin, a diisocyanate, or an N-methylol compound. Conventionally beaten paper fibres, and synthetic organic or inorganic fibres may also be added. The bonding agent may be added as a dispersion, a solution, a plastisol or an organosol of the polymer or monomer, and may be a polyacrylate or a polyurethane.
