Abstract

931,244. Laminates and laminating. DURAFLOAT Ltd. Nov. 13, 1961 [Nov. 11, 1960], No. 38757/60. Class 140. [Also in Group XXXIII A method for manufacturing a boat hull comprises separately moulding inner and outer skins from a blend of styrene/acrylonitrile and styrene/butadiene copolymers or from polyvinylchloride, locating the inner skin within the outer skin in spaced-apart relation thereto, and forming a substantially rigid foamed polyurethane core in the space between the opposed surfaces of the inner and outer skins with such core bonded to such opposed surfaces. In Fig. 3 the two skins 1 and 2 are formed by vacuum moulding and united by the channel-sectioned rubbing strake 6. The inter-skin space 8 is filled, through suitable openings, with the core which is foamed and cured in situ so as to become bonded to the surfaces of the two skins.
