Abstract

922,199. Planing bottoms. G. G. EDDY. Jan. 10, 1961, No. 979/61. Class 113. A boat's bottom is clinker-built, each plank, Fig. 4, having a plurality of rearward facing steps 15, each step being set perpendicular to the lines of constant water pressure 17, Fig. 5, in order to reduce the resistance to forward motion when planing. These steps may be rectangular as in Fig, 4. or may be tapered. Alternatively the bottom, including the steps, may be made of sheet metal or synthetic plastic.
