Abstract

926,938. Lifesaving buoys. LO TO, LO SUM, and LAW TSOI. Dec. 11, 1961 [Dec. 1, 1960], No. 41318/60. Class 77. [Also in Group V] A lifebuoy comprises a preformed shell of fibres of glass reinforced with a polyester resin which encloses a buoyant body of polyurethane foam material which is in contact with the shell. A lifebuoy comprises a buoyant body 1, Fig. 2, of rigid polyurethane foam and a prefoamed shell of fibreglass forming an outer skin 2, the body being solid, or hollow, as shown in Fig. 4, in which an inner skin 3 is formed at the interior of the body. The lifebuoy is manufactured in two separate half-sections which are joined to each other and permanently sealed at 4 by a matting of fibres of glass reinforced with polyester resin. Grab lines 5 of rope are fitted to each embodiment as by cleats 6 secured to the outer skin 2 by screws 7 engaging a wood chock 8 glued to inner face of the skin 2.
