930,778. Optical profile gauges. WATSON, MANASTY & CO. Ltd. May 10, 1961 [June 10, 1960], No. 20547/60. Class 106 (2). The feeler members 10 of an optical profile projection apparatus have resilient tips 11 for engaging opposite portions of the blade crosssection, or other object, being examined, the tips being shaped to correspond approximately with the shape of a given part of the object. To facilitate inspection of the projected image, the feeler tips have a contrasting colour to the object. As shown in Fig. 5 a plurality of feelers may be mounted on a rotatable turret 16, by means of slots 12 and screws 18, two such turrets being mounted at either side of the axis of the projection lens 5 (Fig. 2), as indicated by the two parts 6. These may be movable towards, or away from, each other by means of a lever 9. Different pairs of feelers correspond to different cross-sections of an axially-positioned object to be examined, and a control circuit may be provided for automatically positioning the carriage 7 carrying the object in correct alignment relatively to the feelers, and for rotating the turrets to select the feelers appropriate to that cross-section.
