Abstract
1,217,092. Workbenches. AMP. Inc. 6 Jan., 1969 [31 Jan., 1968], No. 4910/68. Heading B4X. [Also in Divisions G2 and G5] An apparatus for indicating successive element-receiving open-ended passageways of a connector block half includes a light source 2 arranged to illuminate ends of a plurality of optical fibres 10 spaced apart and secured to a member 7, and a single-apertured mask 8 between the source and the member 7 movable to selectively cause the ends of different optical fibres 10 to be illuminated by the source, only one end being illuminated at any given time. The ends of the optical fibres 10 may be centred on a circle of diameter the same as that described by the aperture 11 in a rotatable opaque mask 8. The mask may be manually rotated by a knob 5 moving over a marked scale 12 to select the particular end to be illuminated. Alternatively the mask may be automatically indexed. The apertures 9 locating the optical fibre ends may include light filters, and the container 1 may be light-proof. Other ends of the optical fibres are mounted in corresponding holes in a jig (not shown) on which is mounted a connector block half to be wired. Specification 1,185,567 is referred to.
