930,722. Moulding bowl- or trough-shaped vessels. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and ROLINX Ltd. May 2, 1962 [May 8, 1961], No. 16625/61. Class 87(2). A bowl- or trough-shaped vessel of thermoplastic resinous material is formed by injection moulding a relatively flat blank 5, the rim 6 of which has the same size and shape as that of the required vessel, supporting the blank 5 at said rim 6, and blowing or sucking, and/or pressing the heated central region of the blank 5 into the required shape, the shape and position of the rim 6 being kept constant. The blank 5, which may be of non-uniform thickness, may be partially shaped by suction on a vacuum pouring box 8, the final shaping being done by a former 10. The blank 5 may be sucked to a size smaller or larger than that required, being then pressed by the former 10 or allowed to collapse on to it respectively. Lighting fitting enclosures of methyl methacrylate may be produced by this method.
