Abstract
993,054. Moulding hollow articles from thermoplastic materials. JOHN WADDING- TON Ltd. Sept. 7, 1961 [June 7, 1960], No. 19852/60. Heading B5A. A sheet 1 of thermoplastic material, e.g. polythene, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate or cellulose acetate, whilst hot from an extruder 2 or after a separate heating step is folded transversely, gripped by a two-part mould 2a, and blown by gas or a filling material or sucked into the shape of the mould. The sheet may be folded either by a reciprocating finger or a blast of gas. The mould may have holes to allow escape of air, and several moulds may be used. The sheet may be folded upwardly or laterally. The sheet may be conveyed by the mould.
