Abstract

930,216. Confectionery moulds. C. J. L. WARREN, and J. W. MILROSS. April 26, 1962 [April 26, 1961], No. 15033/61. Class 87(2). A mould comprises a metal plate with a number of holes through it, each hole being fitted with a lining sleeve of material such as silicone rubber, nylon or P.T.F.E., which exhibits non-sticking properties. The internal cross section of each sleeve 24, may be uniform or tapered and flanges or annular grooves may be employed to retain the sleeves in their mould plates 20, (see Figs. 1a (shown)-3b (not shown). The lower end of each sleeve may be proud of the mould plate, so as to make a seal with a flat surface on which the mould plate is rested. In operation a series of such moulds are rigidily or pivotally mounted on a pair of parallel chains so as to follow a closed path, Fig. 4. As each mould passes under a wheel J1 the sleeves make contact with a moving belt 16. The moulds are filled with hot confectionery syrup from a dispenser 36, movement of chains and belt being arrested while filling takes place. Cooling of the mould contents occurs between J1 and J2, and as the moulds rise clear of the belt beyond J2, the cooled sweets either fall out or are pushed out by an ejector mechanism.
