[Also in Group XXIII] In apparatus for washing the envelopes of cathode-ray tubes, cleansing or rinsing liquid, e.g. hydrofluoric acid or distilled water, is fed by a supply hose 14 into a recess 15 in a plate 12 to raise a rubber or other elastic diaphragm 17 into sealing engagement with the base of a member 5, so that the liquid passes without leakage through an aperture 19 in the diaphragm 17 into a tube 7 carrying a spray nozzle 8.
