Abstract
927,923. Pivoted ventilators; windows. G. F. BOOMSMA. Dec. 29, 1960 [Dec. 29, 1959], No. 44628/60. Class 20 (3) and 137. A pivoted ventilator for the roof of a vehicle that can be opened at any of its four sides, or alternative at all four sides together, comprises a lower frame 1 adapted to be attached to the vehicle, and an upper frame 2 containing a transparent or opaque pane 3. The ventilator is characterized in that the upper frame 2 is connected to the lower frame 1 by a structure in which a respective pair of telescope rods 21, each slidably and rockably mounted in a separate guiding tube 20, have compression springs 22 between stops 23 and the ends of the rods 21. Each telescope structure 19 is pivotally attached to ejection strip 31 at pivot 28 and is provided with an adjusting bolt 50 which impinges during the outwardly-directed pivotal movement of the telescope rod 21 against stop 51. Each guiding tube 20 is curved round and pivotally mounted on pins attached to the upper frame 2 by bolts 42. The ejection strip 31 is provided with a steel locking pin 35 which projects outwards and co-operates with fastening member 36 arranged on shaft 37 pivotally mounted in the lower frame 1. The shaft 37 has an inner crank 38 and an outer crank 39 with which the shaft can be rotated by hand. In case of emergencies therefore, the complete upper member of the ventilator can be released.
