Abstract

927,716. Laminates. AERO CONTROLS Ltd. Dec. 1, 1959 [Sept. 1, 1958], No. 28074/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. A constructional laminated material is produced by assembling a lamina of felted asbestos fibres impregnated with phenol-formaldehyde resin in amount between 30 and 40%; on to a lamina of a metal which will bond to the lamina of asbestos fibres and phenol-formaldehyde resin solely upon the application of pressure and heat, and subjecting the assembly to pressure and heat. The lamina of felted asbestos fibres and phenolformaldehyde resin may be sandwiched between two laminµ of metal. The metal may be stainless steel, aluminium, an aluminium alloy or titanium, and may be flat or corrugated, or preformed to a desired shape or may be anodised before bonding. If a second metal lamina is used and is of, e.g., copper, it may be removed after the other layers have been bonded together. According to the Provisional Specification, a further layer of expanded resin may be applied to the laminate.
