Abstract

The fluidity of vinyl chloride polymer plastisols is improved by the incorporation of 0,1 to 5% by weight of the polymer of a fluidifier which is a condensation product of ethylene or propylene oxide with an aliphatic diamine whose aliphatic radical contains from 2 to 30 carbons and may be saturated or unsaturated and straight or branched chain. The condensation product may be used as the free amine or fatty acid addition salt thereof. The fluidifier may be added to the plastisol or to the polymer or plasticizer before compounding and may be introduced in a volatile solvent which is subsequently eliminated. In examples the plastisol is 60% polyvinyl chloride in 40% diethylhexyl phthalate and fluidifiers used are condensation products of ethylene oxide with trimethylene diamine mono-N-substituted with a C14-18 straight chain and of propylene oxide with dimethylene diamine. The compositions also contained 2% of a C10-14 fatty alcohol fraction.
