Abstract
926,658. Electric battery lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 19, 1962 [March 23, 1961], No. 10685/61. Class 39 (2). An electric battery lamp comprises a body, a cap connected to the body, a releasable locking member on the body and engaging the cap so as to prevent separation of the cap from the body and a switch mechanism arranged so to interact with the locking member that the switch cannot be moved to the " on " position when the locking member is released allowing separation of the cap from the body. In the form shown, the cap 4 is screwed on to the end of the body 1 and secures in place a glass cover 5 and a reflector 6 in which the bulb 7 is carried. The switch consists of a plate 9 sliding on a switch cover 22 and having a boss 11 moving in a slot 23 in the cover. A push button 12 in the boss 11 carries a contact strip 14 which in the " on " position engages a contact strip 15 connected to the batteries 8 by a strip 18 and spring 19 and a contact strip 16 connected by a strip 21 to the reflector. Beneath the cover 22 is a sliding plate 24 having a slot 31 for the boss 11 and a finger 27 which in operative position engages in one of a series of slots 28 in the cap 4 to prevent this from being unscrewed. The plate 24 is secured in position by a captive screw 29 sunk in the cover 22 and covered by a polythene cap. On removal of the screw 29, the switch member 9 can be moved beyond the " off " position thereby withdrawing the finger 27 from the slot 28.
