Abstract

1,001,206. Electric battery lamps. SONCA INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 24, 1963 [Sept. 25, 1962; May 6, 1963], Nos. 36376/62 and 17865/63. Heading F4R. A pocket lamp comprises a barrel fitted with a pocket engaging clip and containing one or more electric cells, a depressible switch button located within the clip engaging a resilient switch contact member through an aperture in the barrel, the switch button being capable of limited longitudinal movement between an " off " position in which the contact member is in the open position relatively to a second contact member and an " on " position in which the contact member is held engaging the second contact member. In one form, the resilient contact member 8 is mounted on the barrel, the second contact member being in the form of a ring 6 at the base of a sleeve 5 in which the lamp bulb 4 is secured. The button 10 is mounted in a slot in the clip 11 and engages a projecting part 9 of the member 8. The button 10 has a step 17 which can be engaged under the top 14 of the clip by depressing the button and sliding it forward. In another form, the button 10, Fig. 3, has a slot 26 at the front end and a tail 27 at the rear which acts as a fulcrum on which the button can pivot. The button can either be slid forward so that the part 14 of the clip engages the slot 26 and the button cannot then be depressed to close the switch contacts or it can be depressed and slid forward so that a shoulder 25 engages under the edge of the top of the clip, the switch being then held locked in closed position.
