A switch for a flashlamp comprises a contact strip 4 directly secured, e.g. by a rivet 9, to a moulded plastic switch button 5 having a surface 6 for engaging the flashlamp body 1 extending around the periphery of its underside and a projection 7 engaging in a slit 8 in the body. The projection 7 may have a boss 10 engaging in a hole in the strip 4. Indentations 11, 11<SP>1</SP> on the strip serve to press the button 5 against the body 1. The rear indentation 11 also co-operates with an indentation 12 on the body to hold the switch either in open or closed position.
